The µ-TBL System: Logic Programming Tools for Transformation-Based Learning
نویسنده
چکیده
The #u-TBL system represents an attempt to use the search and database capabilities of the Prolog programming language to implement a generalized form of transformation-based learning. In the true spirit of logic-programming, the implementation is 'derived' from a declarative, logical interpretation of transformation rules. The #-TBL system recognizes four kinds of rules, that can be used to implement various kinds of disambiguators, including Constraint Grammar disambiguators as well as more traditional 'Brill-taggers'. Results from a number of experiments and benchmarks are presented which show that the system is both flex" ible and efficient.

متن کاملA Transformation-Based Learning Method on Generating Korean Standard Pronunciation
In this paper, we propose a Transformation-Based Learning (TBL) method on generating the Korean standard pronunciation. Previous studies on the phonological processing have been focused on the phonological rule applications and the finite state automata (Johnson 1984; Kaplan and Kay 1994; Koskenniemi 1983; Bird 1995). In case of Korean computational phonology, some former researches have approa...
متن کاملTransformation-Based Learning meets Frequent Pattern Discovery
Transformation-based learning (TBL) and frequent pattern discovery (FPD) are two popular research paradigms, one from the domain of empirical natural language processing , the second from the eld of data mining. This paper describes how Eric Brill's original TBL algorithm can be improved via incorporation of FPD techniques. The algorithm B-Warmr is presented that upgrades TBL to rst-order logic...
متن کاملLearning to Parse from a Treebank: Combining TBL and ILP
Parsing a natural languagewith its substantial structural complexity and ambiguity has turned out to be a puzzler. While the most of attempts in this area so far has relied on hand-generated parsers, difficulties inherent in the manual construction of natural language grammar lead up to efforts to induce the grammar automatically. Our approach to the automatic grammar induction presented in thi...
متن کاملPart-of-Speech (POS) Tagging Revisited
Accurate part-of-speech (POS) tagging of natural language text data can add power to automated information retrieval and extraction. Brill's transformation-based learning (TBL) approach to automated POS tagging was introduced in 1992, combining virtues of rule-based and stochastic methods. Brill's innovative idea was to use machine learning techniques to search through all of rule space for the...
